Claims process
From notification to settlement — step by step.
- 01
First notification of loss
Cedant notifies 7Re via the secure portal or by direct contact with the claims team. A claims reference is issued within four working hours. All treaty-relevant information is confirmed at this stage.
- 02
Coverage verification
7Re confirms treaty applicability, retention, cession percentage and any relevant conditions. The cedant receives written acknowledgement within one working day.
- 03
Document collection
Cedant uploads claim documents via the portal. Our team reviews for completeness. Missing documents are flagged within 48 hours to avoid settlement delays.
- 04
Assessment and agreement
Claims are assessed by our technical team. For complex or large losses, we may appoint a loss adjuster working jointly with the cedant's appointed assessor.
- 05
Settlement
Agreed claims are settled to the cedant's nominated account within the treaty-specified payment period. Shariah-compliant fund accounting applies to all settlements.
Cedant portal
Your treaty in one secure place.
The 7Re cedant portal provides real-time access to treaty documents, bordereaux submission, claims tracking and correspondence history. Accessible 24/7 from any device. MFA-secured.
Treaty pack access
Download current and historical treaty wordings, schedules and Shariah fatwas at any time.
Bordereaux upload
Submit monthly or quarterly bordereaux directly through the portal in standard or custom formats.
Claims tracking
View live status of all open claims, upload documents, and receive settlement notifications in-portal.
Portfolio reports
Access loss development summaries, experience reports and surplus statements tied to your treaty.
Underwriting guidelines
What we look for — transparently stated.
Portfolio quality
We assess the takaful operator's underwriting guidelines, pricing adequacy, and historical loss experience before agreeing treaty terms. Quality matters more than volume.
Structural compliance
The cedant's own Shariah governance framework is reviewed at onboarding. We will not accept cession from an operator whose underlying takaful structure is not certified by an SSB.
Data standards
We require at least three years of credible loss experience for treaty renewals and provide a standard bordereaux template to ensure consistent data quality.
Technical support
Expertise available beyond the treaty.
Pricing review support
Our actuarial team can assist cedants in reviewing their own pricing adequacy and catastrophe modelling assumptions. Available on request for treaty cedants.
Wording review
We review cedant policy wordings for Shariah compliance issues that may affect the retakaful structure. Provided as part of the treaty onboarding process.
Technical workshops
7Re runs annual technical workshops for cedant teams on retakaful structuring, claims best practices and Shariah governance updates. Open to all active cedants.
Regulatory guidance
Our team tracks regulatory developments across our operating markets and provides cedants with updates that affect retakaful treaty structures or Shariah standards.
